more deportment

mama has been giving me finger food

in an effort to get me to learn how to eat by myself

so far she has put cheesy toast fingers

and slices of bread and fruit into my food bowl

and i am quite successful at self-feeding

(>60% of food finds its way into my mouth)

however today i was caught

practising deportment

with the food bowl on my head...

stand and deliver

i am going great guns
at manouvering myself
into standing position
i can pull myself up
holding onto furniture
and because i have
no concept of danger
there have been some
spectacular falls

mama and papa
have been balancing
my bath friends on my head
they rekon it is
a great beginning
for deportment school
and when the toys fall off
they laugh a little
too much for my liking...

fruitloop

i had my first taste of summer yesterday
eating watermelon on a day of 35 deg heat
but keeping cool indoors with the airconditioner blowing
on an aside i have been unwell
with a throat infection since wednesday
fevers and never-ending screaming fits
we're all so drowsy from lack of sleep
mama reckons it feels like we're permanently hungover
the doctor says its a viral infection
and some hideous rash has manifested itself
this is my first time being so unwell
and i hate it cause i am so cranky!

ergo-maniac

this is my ergo baby carrier
which mama loves to death
she finds it great to carry me
either in front
on at the back
or on the hip
she loves wearing me whilst walking
as it leaves her hands free
to hold my chubby ones
or to squeeze my little tootsies
and cuddle and kiss me to bits

(she's a bit of a worry, isn't she?!)

sooky bubba

i had a frightful evening on sunday
after waking from my evening nap
i cried and cried and cried
and moaned and whined and whinged
i don't know why...
papa had to take me outside for a walk
in the dark with the mozzies
after i refused to eat my din dins
and practically drove the folks
to the brink of insanity-dom
so mama decided to take some pics
to record how much of a sook i was...

(who knows, maybe i'm teething again?!)

arnotts biscuits are the one

one day at mother's group i was given
an arnott's milk arrowroot bikkie to chomp on
apparently it keeps babies quiet for a while...
anyway i seemed to like it
(of course, who wouldn't with all that sugar!)
and mama gave me one to nibble on
as my morning tea snack/treat recently
i am getting the hang of this fingerfood business
so now cannot wait for the tim tams...

uncle greg, aunty sharron, jordan and shakira

when we were in nannup
at the beginning of the month

late night #1

on thursday night mama and papa
brought me along to l'hermitage
a french restaurant in claremont
for fr gerald's farewell dinner
with the ausino-loyola clc'ers
(clc = christian life community)
i was so well-behaved and had
the attention of all the pretty ladies
who cuddled and played with me
we didn't get home till 10pm
so i fell asleep in the car on the way home
and to mama's delight
woke up at 8.30am the next day
i am turning into some wild party aminal...

i had a lovely visit
with aunty deborah
over the weekend
she is mama's bosslady at work
she's always been there for us
and is very inspiring
i enjoy her company heaps

nine months

i hit the nine month mark
three days ago
that's about the equivalent
amount of time
i spent inside mama's tummy
as i've spent
out in the big wide world...
one of my favourite adventures
is swinging on this swing
outside my local library
life is such a fantastic whirl
of growth
exploration
and discovery
woo... hoo...

haircut #2

it had to happen again
the *snip*snip* of my luxuriant mane

papa did the honours yet again
while mama took the pics

you can tell i am not too impressed
with the resultant dorky combover...

the teeth... the teeth...

they have finally erupted
my two bottom teeth
and no matter how hard mama tries
to take flattering shots of them
she can only manage these dodgy ones
the folks are already a little worried
cause they look like they've formed
in an inverted vee-shape
ooohhhh... they'll have to start saving for braces now

over the weekend
we went down to nannup
to visit blackwood river drive
and mark the anniversary
of uncle phil's passing away
here i am pictured
with aunty vicu at cambray cottages
she is so amazing and lovely
and that is why i kiss her a lot!

mama has resorted to
bellamy's organic teething rusks
to hush my whinging and whining
she reckons it's a great tool for
some much needed peace and quiet
well chewing on these rusks sure beats
complaining about my teething aches and pains

and is a fantastic mess-making activity
...win-win for all i say!

now that i am teething
i have this neat
nifty
net
bag
thingymajiggy
which mama puts pieces of fruit in
for me to chew and suck on
(so far i don't seem to like the vegie bits)
without fear of choking
on little broken bits and pieces
it's also got a rubberised ring handle
which i gnaw on as well
nutrients at one end
tooth-filer at the other...
what a wonderful world of mod cons we live in

(apparently one of my mothers' group peers
gets served chunks of fillet steak in it!!!)
