sunshine and sleepiness

i had another swell time
at mother's group yesterday
meeting my peer boy and girl friends
mum walked me all the way there
it took about 35 minutes
the weather was so warm
and sunny - 27 degrees
so i snoozed in my stroller
while mum got her dose of exercise
fresh air and sunshine
another lovely day
apart from the fact
that i am not sleeping through
at nights cause i prefer
to co-sleep with mum and dad

(i am ruling the roost!)

more springy days

another lovely day yesterday
spring is surely in the air
i really love kicking back
on my blankie in the garden
while papa prunes the plants
and mum lies alongside with me
finishing her book rhubarb

(i must surely be an outdoorsy baby)

i like it... : part 1

this is the beginning
of a series of introductions
to a few of my favourite things...
(to poach a line from the sound of music)

one of them is
my toy clutch cube
it's a cube with clever handles on it
with some rings and plastic variably shaped baubles
as well as colourful graphic sides
a bell inside that jingles
and two peek-a-boo flaps
i like it because it somehow

makes tummy time less tedious
and i can hold onto it and chew it
- just basically fiddle with it
in my chubby little hands

(oooh... the beginnings of hand-eye coordination)

(p.s. btw aunti letti, i haven't yet got toothsies... *phew* says mum!)

Sunday 27 August 2006

my first letter

dear aunty letti
you must be about the only person
who reads my blog
cause i only seem to receive comments from you
i am looking forward to meeting you in person
will you please come to visit me down under
with uncle david and maybe henry
one day?
and we can have lots of getting to know you time
and cuddles and kisses
xoxo jamie

(p.s. how do you like me sunhat?)

Saturday 26 August 2006

footsie

for a change
instead of the usual
head shots
i thought i'd post
a shot of my foot

(toes curling in anticipation...)

Friday 25 August 2006

spring ahoy

it was such a lovely day yesterday
almost like spring -
the sky was so blue
the sun was shining gloriously
it got up to almost 23 deg
the birds were playing chasey

the flying ants were hatching
the bees were buzzing around the lavender
so mum put me in a short sleeved tee
and we lolled about on a blanket in the garden with glee...

(what a life hey?!)

Thursday 24 August 2006

not floundering, wriggling

no, no, it's not a beached whale!
it's the beginnings of 'mobility craving'

hence the ungainly position...
i think this is the start of my 'crawl'
but i usually end up stuck
mum and dad think this hilarious
and tend to get carried away with fits of laughter

(apparently so do i...)

gender bender 2

ok once again someone's made the remark
that i look like a girl
do you think it's the hair??
do i need a haircut??
but mum's too chicken to cut it
i think she's growing me a mullet
oh dear...

(do you think i look too fenimine???)

Tuesday 22 August 2006

more flesh flash

after all those bath shots
i thought i'd show you something different
so here's an arty looking
modesty preserving
shower shot

(showers - great for when time is of essence)

Monday 21 August 2006

held close

mum received her peanut shell in the mail today
it's a sling without rings
for her to carry me about
so we can both be close together
when she's doing things

i think i like it
and am getting used to it
as we keep on practising...
i enjoy snuggling alongside her

(wait till you see my new ergo carrier too!)

tummy tales

i have been getting better at my tummy time
although i still don't really fancy it
but everyone has been encouraging me to keep it up
as apparently, it helps strengthen my neck muscles
(as if anything of mine needs improvement!)
anyway, now that i am a little older
i can concentrate on my playmat
which has flowers with flashing lights -
rather gaudy, i must say
but eye-catching enough, i guess
(who designs these things?!)
see how hard i'm concentrating on the task???!

(p.s. how'd you like the jailbird outfit?!)

lofty heights

when we got home from a short walk yesterday morning
we found a big boxed package sitting by the front door
mama and papa were all excited
because the item they had bought off ebay had arrived...
my new high chair !!!
papa put it all together
while mama made sense of the diagrams
(they will be ikea superstars - i can tell already)
and then they made me try it out
so we could get me comfy seating and footrest heights
what do you reckon?

(it looks all nice and clean cause i haven't eaten in it yet!)

rainy days triptych : part 2

bibliophile concentrates intently on literature

bibliophile practises vocalising words on page

after a hard day's critiqueing, bibliophile needs rest ...zzzzzzz.....

(does this remind you of anyone, huh... kong kong?!!)

rainy days triptych : part 1

bagel on gingham platter hovering around my vicinity

once bagel spotted, transformation into ravenous monster complete

monster tries stuffing half a bagel into mouth... scoff scoff

(n.b. all pictures posed for by model in no way allowed to eat bagel)

my precious papa

have i ever mentioned that
my dear darling papa
decided to reduce his working hours to part-time
so he could co-parent with mum?
and so he comes home from work
most afternoons by 2.30 pm in time for a cuppa

to help take care of and play with me
and did i mention he also does night duty!!!
what a star - my darling papa
isn't he lovely?!
i am such a lucky baby
i receive twice the attention i crave...

(and mum is ever so pleased too)

Tuesday 15 August 2006

kangaroo carry

today mum fed me broccoli and zucchini
she tried disguising them together but i knew anyway...
and i surprised her by loving it!
i also woke up late this morning
i let her sleep in (how kind of me)
but she reckons i've mucked up 'the routine'
(obviously she thinks she's in charge...
adults - i just humour them...)
she wore me in a baba-style sling today

it's pretty cosy and fun in there
what do you reckon?

(bonjour millie et robert!)

Monday 14 August 2006

independent sleeper

last night i slept in my cot
(which papa moved into their bedroom
so he didn't have to grope his way
down the hallway in the middle of the night)
all by myself...
for about a total of four hours
before i wanted to get into bed with mum and dad
at 2.30am
well, i like being snuggled and toasty warm with them!
it's a step up from sleeping in my little bassinet
i have graduated into the big, wide cot...

(i can spread my wings...)

Saturday 12 August 2006

half time

i am officially six months old today
one of my milestones?
i can sorta sit up in my bath tub!

happy half birthday to me
happy half birthday to me
happy half birthday to good ol' Jamie
happy half birthday to me

(in my birthday suit glory)

p.s. bye bye grandma sheila,
i will miss you, please come back soon!

Friday 11 August 2006

chickens and needles

i had my needles today
six-month immunisation
what a drama... mum seemed to feel it more than i did
the doctor tried to distract me with a singing (!!) chicken
they must think i am some sort of big baby or chicken?!
mum even fed me my preferred food as a 'treat' (but still no sign of chocolate)
i got needles in both legs

both legs i say!
adults only get needled in one arm
anyway, here's the proof one of my battle scars:

(i am an awfully brave warrior!)

Sunday 6 August 2006

happy day

today was another very fun-filled day
we all stayed in our pjs and lazed about in bed
i played with mum and dad
laughed so hard
ate, grizzled a little
watched the footy
relaxed
then we got dressed and went walking around trigg
and visited my godma gay and godpa gerry

(happy 18th birthday megsy! sorry i missed you)

Saturday 5 August 2006

tire-me-out days

i have had such a lovely weekend so far
and it's only saturday! one more day to go...
yesterday, i went walking in kings park
and checked out the recently revamped
lotteries west playground at stickybeaks cafe
had to have a long nap in the car afterwards...

today i played hard on my playmat
kicking about and batting my toys,
doing the dreaded tummy time
and having to roll over in protest.
foodwise, i had potato, pumpkin, carrot and pear to nibble on
what a menu, hey?!
i also went walking with mum, dad, great aunty deborah and sam the dog
all the way down to trigg beach and watched the surfers doing their thing
while the grown ups ate ice-creams and sam and i got fed nothing...
so all in all, a very long and fun-filled day

which as you can see
has left me absolutely knackered!
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............

(sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite)

Friday 4 August 2006

gender bender

i had a lovely chatty chat with grandma over the telephone last night
all the way from malaysia
she received the photos mum sent
and apparently in one of them i look rather like a girl!
(ok maybe a semblance to mum when she was a baby)

...but moi! a girl?!!!
actually, i seem to be getting that quite a bit
sometimes when i am out and about
friendly strangers ask if i am a boy or girl...
(golly gosh, whose hand me downs are mum dressing me up in to elicit such responses?!)
oh well, i have decided to take it as a compliment
'cause at this age i am already comfortable with
showing my fenimine (sic) side!
i am turning out to be such a SNAB (sensitive new-age baby)

(but mum, i must draw the line at fushia!)

Tuesday 1 August 2006

toe catching

on the first of august
i had a first too:

i put my feet up in the air
and wave them about everywhere
cause i am ready to grab
my little toes so fat
and daddy shouts, "oh yeah!"

(with apologies to the new kids on the block)
