commando crawl

i am developing at a rate of knots these days
so on top of all that pulling up and standing
i am now also able to crawl (woo hoo!)
i do this with both my arms and just the right leg
i tend to drag the left one along
so it looks rather odd (yet strangely compelling)
and not only does it make this weird squeaking noise
(which heralds my whereabouts)
but causes blisters on my foot too
being an individual i'd like to think
my unusual gait is special
mama and papa think it hilarious
and so they sing that silly rolf harris ditty
'i'm jake the peg diddle-diddle-dum...'
i don't care...
so as long as i can zoom about
and get into all sorts of things
i am happy as a (squeaky) lark
