making a splash of it

when life
hands you
winter

and all of its
accompanying
precipitation
what else
can one do

but
make
the most
of a marvellous
opportunity...

yet another possible future vocation

my utter fascination with
and enjoyment of
playing with water
is yet again highlighted
during my bath times
where i can spend hours
contemplating its
mesmerising properties
mummy and daddy think
my prospects
as a mamak stall man
doing the teh-tarik
(pulled-tea) thing
is looking rather
promising
don't you?

more muddy puddling

in case you missed the previous episode in all its muddy gloriousness
here is more evidence that my parents are either
very good at letting me enjoy my childhood discoveries or
wish they had procured some procter and gamble shares

Jamesy Jumps Muddy Puddles! from Eileen Chan on Vimeo
p = i love watching peppa pig
i = peppa pig loves jumping in muddy puddles
therefore, if p x i = g
g = i love jumping in muddy puddles!
q.e.d.
notice too my incredible ability to multi-task at this age
eat a banana and jump the puddles
i can see shaking of heads all around...

adults just do not compute

sometimes i get so frustrated
trying to have a civilised conversation
with adults
case in point with mummy

moi: we're going to see baby x today
ma: no, not today because he is sick
moi: (*sick?*) oh, ok, 1,2,3,4,5 ready or not here i come!
ma: ?????!!!!!!!!! (*what the????!!*)
moi: baby x playing hide and seek!
ma: hahahahahahahahaha
moi: ?????!!!!!!!! (*why is she laughing?!*)
ma: no baby x is not playing hide and seek. he is sick, as in, he is not well. he has a cold
moi: cold? baby x wear jumper?
ma: hahahahahahahahaha
moi: ?????!!!!!!!! (*again, why is she laughing?!*)
ma: he has a cold, he is not feeling cold
moi: (*are we speaking the same language here?!!*)
ma: i give up (*as she rolls around laughing her head off*)

watch out pablo

this weekend inspired by ailing and sophie's artwork
mummy decided to let me try my hand at painting
yes, painting with poster paints and brush
lo behold i am a true blue aussie - i started off my first ever painting
in the style of the traditional keepers of the land
aboriginal art - dot style...

my nan and i

this is my
great-grandma
(aka nan-nan) kate

we usually drop by
to visit her in rockingham
on our trips to nannup
she has a lovely
rambling garden
and space for
me to run amuck
and she has an
hilarious cockatiel
named nippy
whom i take
great delight
in tormenting...

the lady doth forget...

oh dear
mummy completely forgot
i turned 28 months old
on thursday...
but we forgive her
her transgressions
since neither of us
is getting any younger...
but i do have
age on my side -
my capacity for memory
never fails to astonish her
take for example
my fetish for cars
these days i can recognise makes and models of different cars and love pointing them out to her - i can confidently distinguish between godpa gerry's hyundai elantra, aunty dianne's holden barina, dada's toyota prius and our trusty old subaru forester!

today i even
helped point out
our car to mummy
(or perhaps confound
her even more??!)
at the
packed-to-the-rafters
stickybeaks car park!
this is
quite possibly
the fortituous
result of
all those
little coupe
test-drives
i performed
circa june 2007...

Tuesday 10 June 2008

like father like son

here is a pictorial essay about how i:
1. managed to score myself a suitably-sized wheelbarrow to assist dada
2. learn to pack away my (seemingly invisible) tools like a good handy-toddler and
3. appreciate a brilliant sunset that's a fitting end to a hard day's toil...

naming rights

this weekend
we finally
put up
the name
of our
pied a tierre
at nannup
on the
entry gate
we were all
pretty happy
to carry on
and recycle
great-grandad les'
and nan-nan kate's
legacy...
